FAQ: Working at Turing 42
People keep asking us about jobs, hours, language, working from anywhere, how we work, and why we do not do overtime. So we put the answers here.
No open roles right now - please do not send unsolicited applications. We are happy to answer questions about how we work; hiring mail when nothing is posted is not something we can handle fairly as a small team.
Still got questions? Email or LinkedIn is fine for that. We are nice.
Even if your contact person is on vacation or part-time, someone will get back to you.
Can I apply speculatively while no role is posted?
Please not for now. Without an open position we cannot give applications the process and attention they deserve. When we hire, we post here and on LinkedIn.
Why would I want to work at Turing 42? What is the culture like?
Because we build meaningful tech with purpose - and we do it with people who care. We work in cross-functional teams, follow agile principles and lean thinking, and keep learning from each other.
We are into solving real problems with software (and often AI), not building for the sake of building. Intrinsic motivation beats hustle culture. And yes, we love what we do.
Culture? Honest, curious, kind. We respect boundaries, share knowledge, celebrate wins, and check in on each other. We are big on transparency and async communication. We trust each other to get the job done - without micromanagement or hero culture.

Do I need to be a full-time employee?
No. Part-time is fine. Some of us work 25 hours, others 32, some 40 - and many adjust over time depending on life, family, or projects.
You can join a meeting with your kid in the background or a sandwich in hand. Just tell us what you are looking for.
Do I need to speak German?
Not necessarily. You should be fluent in English (C1 or better). Some projects may need German (especially client-facing ones, though often not even then). We will say so if it matters. German is a nice-to-have, not a dealbreaker.
Do I need a work permit?
If we hire you as an employee (not freelance) and you do not live in the EU, yes - a valid work permit is required. The EU Blue Card is one option. More info: make-it-in-germany.com/en
Do you expect overtime or crunch?
No. Zero overtime tolerance. We do not believe in working until you drop. We believe in working well - sustainably.
If something big slips through and we need to stretch once or twice a year, we treat that as a learning moment: what went wrong, and how do we prevent it next time? Work is a marathon, not a sprint. (Even if we work in sprints.)
Do you also work with freelancers?
Yes. Depending on project and timing, we sometimes work with freelancers and contractors. Ask - we are open to flexible setups when they work for both sides.
What kind of projects do you work on?
Digital products and services - from prototypes to full-scale platforms. We also help teams level up operations, strategy, or AI implementation. If it is digital, meaningful, and complex enough to be interesting, we are usually in. Sometimes our own thing, sometimes for clients - always collaborative.
What tools do you use?
Mostly Slack, email, GitHub, Google Workspace, Miro, PyCharm, VS Code, zsh, tmux, Zim, and the occasional Post-it wall. We are flexible - if there is a better tool for the job, we are up for it.
